Rolling Cameras and Red Dirt: Rebellium’s Oklahoma Vision with Randy Wayne & Talia Bella
Rebellium Films: Pioneering Filmmaking in Oklahoma
In this latest episode of Behind the Scenes Oklahoma, we had the privilege of speaking with Talia and Randy from Rebellium Films, a dynamic production company making waves in the Oklahoma film industry. From humble beginnings to producing projects that gain national attention, Rebellium Films exemplifies the power of perseverance, strategic partnerships, and local knowledge in shaping the future of filmmaking in Oklahoma.
From LA to Oklahoma: The Birth of Rebellium Films
Talia and Randy’s journey to Oklahoma began in Los Angeles, where the couple met in 2017. While Randy, originally from Moore, had spent much of his career in Hollywood, he recognized the potential of Oklahoma as a growing hub for film production. He pitched the idea of relocating to Talia, who hails from Buenos Aires and had never lived in the heartland. In 2019, they made the move and thus began the formation of Rebellium Films.
At first, Rebellium Films focused on providing production services to filmmakers who were looking to take advantage of Oklahoma’s attractive tax incentives but didn’t have local knowledge or contacts. Their business model was to support out-of-state productions by offering logistical expertise, crew connections, and crucial tax incentive assistance.

A Steady Rise in Production
Rebellium Films quickly proved its value, and by securing key roles as co-producers on projects, they began to carve out a name for themselves in the local industry. Their first significant achievement came with a film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, marking a major milestone in their journey.
Talia explained how their strategy evolved over time. "We initially focused on production services, but as we gained more experience and built solid relationships, we transitioned into producing our own projects." This shift has led to greater creative control and the ability to create meaningful films that reflect their vision.
Key Productions in Oklahoma
Rebellium Films has since contributed to numerous projects, many of which were shot in Oklahoma. The couple’s work on the film Horrified, a horror-comedy centered around the world of horror conventions, exemplifies their commitment to high-quality storytelling. The film features impressive talent, including Ron Perlman, Amy Teagarden, and Jim Rash, and is slated for production in Tulsa in mid-July.
Another major upcoming project, God of the Rodeo, explores the history of the Louisiana State Penitentiary, with Shia LaBeouf starring in the lead role. This intense drama about a prison rodeo is set to be filmed in Oklahoma, with production services managed by Rebellium Films. The company is also currently working on a thrilling true story about a Romanian defector and a WWII conspiracy, featuring major stars and a global production scope.
The Importance of Tax Incentives in Oklahoma
One of the key elements of Rebellium Films’ success in Oklahoma has been its expertise in navigating the state’s tax incentives. These incentives offer filmmakers significant financial benefits, but the process can be daunting for those unfamiliar with the system. Talia and Randy have become experts in securing these incentives for both their own projects and those of others. As Talia explains, "It’s all about understanding what the film office values: high-paying jobs, long-running productions, and projects that can bring attention to the state."
For independent filmmakers, understanding how to apply for Oklahoma's film incentives successfully is crucial. Talia emphasized the importance of presenting a well-rounded pitch, focusing not just on the numbers but also on the potential for tourism, local job creation, and positive economic impact. “It's not just about the film—it’s about how it can benefit Oklahoma,” she says.
Supporting Local Talent
Rebellium Films is also deeply committed to supporting local talent. Randy shared that they make a concerted effort to work with Oklahoma-based actors, writers, and crew members. This includes pushing local talent for key roles and providing opportunities for aspiring filmmakers to gain on-the-job experience. “We have so many great actors here in Oklahoma,” Randy said, “and we want to make sure they get the opportunities they deserve.”
Talia and Randy’s vision is to create a thriving film community in Oklahoma, one where local talent is nurtured and given the platform to shine alongside industry veterans. This commitment to local engagement helps strengthen the film industry in the state and offers a model for other production companies looking to work outside of traditional film hubs like Los Angeles and New York.
A Bright Future for Oklahoma Filmmaking
Rebellium Films is just one example of the growing potential of Oklahoma’s film industry. As the state continues to build its infrastructure and attract big-name talent, it’s clear that Oklahoma is becoming an increasingly important player in the national film production scene. Talia and Randy’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, innovation, and community support in making the state a key destination for filmmakers looking to bring their projects to life.
